Hi guys, just saw your posts! Great ideas! I already talked with my cousin as well, and she is free tomorrow evening or maybe tuesday, whatever works. She might have some english friend to bring as well. Tomorrow we should decide how to split the work. I am going to bring the notebooks!

Interviews

Fred, Henry, that sounds great! We should keep those ideas in mind for the next step.
Now, how about to focusing on what people can tell us about their own experiences?
I was talking to Jieun about our approach to the project and she sent me this link. It has a lot in common to what we are trying to do, but our point of research being the "online self" rather than media in general.

_________

About the interviews we need to make... Whe propose to the interviewee the "challenge" of being disconnected with their online identities for one day, if they agree to do that for us, we will give them a notebook. They can write on the notebook every time they feel the need to express their thoughts to the web. After that we can talk briefly with them again to see how the experience went, and compare everything to thair notes.
_________

We need to schedule as soon as possible the interviews! I talked to my friend and she loved the idea of being interviewed. I think I can meet her tomorrow evening.

One idea I thought today...hope it could inspire you something new...

Those pictures are the ideas I have thought today.
First, I explain the idea I thought. We discussed the different between blog and facebook we post on them. Blog are more real than facebook, more personal things.
So, I just what to express the different through a vedio method. Like the first picture, left part means people show themselves in front of a camera without people watch him, and the right part means people will feel shy or uncomfortable when there is someone take photo to him. We can camprare the final photos from two parts and express the different...

——————————————1————————————————

And the second one is the extension of the first idea. I suppose to play a passion music, and people can dance in front of the vedio camera. Left part is peopel dance without audience watch him. Right part is people dance with audience watch him at some conners.
I think we can cancel the head part of the body, and just see the different dancing gesture in two videos.
I just want to use some behaviour without words to express the dif between BLOG and FACEBOK....

what I have think today

Very Sorry for today's absence, I went the policestation to register for my new ID card this morning. This afternoon I focus on the question that you guys discussed. I find a new concept ---'mask'. As we all know mask can be a accessorize use in the nightparty which keep us mystery or let other guys keep curious, but in the other hand it can be a person's conceal personality which hide in their deep heart. So I want to through the mask to reflect the online identities. My idea is maybe each of us could design a mask, the mask is separated into two part, the left part is your real profile, the right part is what you want to be or what  real you are ect. Hi guys,What do you think? this just what I think today.

Interview Questions

How many online profiles do you have and on what forums?
What is the main purpose of each of your online identities?
How many times a day do you check your profiles?
What devices do you use to check your online profiles?
How would you feel if your facebook/blog/youtube/online self was deleted?
Would you do an experiment to show the impact of your online self on your offline self? (which would involve no internet contact for a day-- 24 hours)-- no posts, no logging on, no checking-- nothing. work email is allowed, personal life emails cant be checked.

THE Question

Today, we discussed some basic things to get our project going. Some questions we thought about the last time were quite interesting-- like--

How much of your life do you spend online?
What is the difference between your online "identity" and your offline one, if there is a difference at all?
What was your last post on your blog/social networking websites?
What would you do if your blog/facebook was deleted?
What is the difference/similarity between your blog's identity and your facebook identity?
How much of your daily life do you spend online?

But we all decided to focus on one question to take this project forward:
What would you do if your blog/facebook was deleted?

An idea: We thought of trying an experiment with people-- to completely cut off from email/facebook/blogs for a day-- and we plan to supply them with a notebook-- and each time they have an urge to log on to one of the forums, they can write their feelings down in the book.

So here is the progress so far!
